In this issue, we join the Newark Symphony Orchestra in celebrating its 50th anniversary season, with a proud tradition of bringing classical music to a vast audience of music lovers. We sit down for dinner and conversation with food blogger Kita Roberts. We also look back at the now-vanished State Theater, and its longtime owner and supporter, Barry Solan, who recalls his days of running the place and creating a cultural icon on Main Street. We take you to the world of Axxion Escape Rooms, which has tapped a variety of fictional worlds to create themed rooms, including everything from “The Pirates of the Caribbean” to Sherlock Holmes to Hogwart's. We also visit the newly opened Recovery Response Center, which welcomes those in crisis who might otherwise get lost in the confusing world of health care. We profile Senior Care of Newark, which has proven to be a refreshing alternative to a nursing home or assisted-living facility for hundreds of local families. In our Photo Essay, we look at Newark's 33 parks, 17 miles of trails, and 650 acres of open space. And in honor of the month of hauntings, we look at the region's ghost stories, and it's up to you to believe or doubt as Halloween draws near!
