Burglary investigation leads to arrest

Jonathan P. Coleman Jr., 36, has been arrested for his role in a residential burglary that occurred on June 22 in the 400 block of South College Ave.

Employees of a construction company, renovating a house in the 400 block of South College Ave. in Newark, had reported tools stolen overnight . Earlier in the day they had seen Coleman hanging around the area for no apparent reason. Coleman had worked for the company, but had been fired a few weeks prior and was not allowed on the property.

On July 8, Newark Police Detectives conducted a search warrant at Coleman’s home. Tools taken from the burglary were recovered from Coleman’s truck parked in the front yard. Coleman has been charged with burglary 2nd and theft. Coleman was released on $12,500 unsecured bond.
