Spring Concert Series Kicks Off This Thursday

Newark Parks and Recreation hosts local musicians during the Spring Concert Series on the Academy Building lawn on the corner of Academy and Main Streets in downtown Newark.  Concerts will be held Thursday nights 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. beginning May 7 and running through June 25.

The schedule is as follows:

May 7 – James & Matt Acoustic (Modern Acoustic)

May 14 – Matthew Dutt (Alternative)

May 21 – John Hadfield (Family Variety)

May 28 – Mike Barry (Acoustic Rock, Country, Blues)

June 4 – Howard Valentine and the Prophets of Love (Blues / Rock and Roll)

June 11 – Crabmeat Thompson (Family Variety)

June 18 – SteelHappiness.com (Steel Drum)

June 25 – Fort Delaware Cornet Band (Civil War Era Brass Band)

Parking fees are in effect downtown during the concerts. This program is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
