Container Gardening
Ideal for people with limited space for gardening, containers can be beautiful and functional, serving as miniature habitats that support butterflies, hummingbirds, and other resident pollinators. Peg Castorani, co-owner of Gateway Garden Center, leads you on a brief tour of Mt. Cuba Center’s native plant containers, discussing design principles, container selection, and siting. She then teaches you the basics of planting and maintaining them, including proper soil mixes, watering requirements, and fertilizer options. Make your own seasonally-themed container garden to give your deck, patio, or terrace a bold new look this year! Bring gardening gloves. Plants and a container are included in the registration fee.
