Newark police investigating fatal car accident

The Newark Police Department Traffic Unit is currently investigating a single vehicle accident which claimed the life of a 30-year-old male.

On Monday, March 23, 2015 at approximately 1:18 a.m., the Newark Police Department

responded to a single vehicle collision in the 700 block of the southbound lanes of South

College Avenue (Route 896).

A 1997 Lexus ES300 drove off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. The front seat passenger was found unresponsive by responding officers and medical personnel. The 30-year-old male passenger was transported to Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Additional identification of the passenger is pending notification of the next of kin.

The driver of the Lexus, a 35-year-old male identified as Terrance Anderson of Newark, was

also transported to Christiana Hospital. Anderson is currently in stable condition.

The roadway was closed for approximately two and half hours while the on-scene investigation was conducted by the Newark Police Department Traffic Unit.

Charges in the incident are pending. Additional information will be released when it becomes available.
